Who said it?

I have been woefully bad at blogging … I apologise … I desire to do better.

And so, a quizz.

Who said the following …

… ”we are not defined by the colour of our skin, the figure on our pay cheque, or the party of our politics … We are defined by our shared humanity – by our citizenship … and by the love that fills our hearts.”

Donald Trump?
Nelson Mandela?
Malala?
Adolf Hitler?

Yup – these are words were uttered by Donald Trump to an audience of more than 5,000 I in Nevada USA on 23rd Sep 2017.

It’s almost funny …. a man who has habitually demeaned women, (setting himself above other humans), who got to the top by appealing to the lowest common denominator (’you want to be rich and I know how to get rich’), and who is losing Whitehouse staff and campaign promises by the day …

…  now verbally calls for patriotism, with a call to rise above all the things which divide us, to bring peace in our time.

It strikes me again,

afresh …

I am a fan of words.
Words create worlds.
Words are powerful
And dangerous
And beauty full
And cavernous
And demolishing
And meaning full.

And they are, perhaps, at their worst when they appeal to a world coming from my lips that I don’t intend to participate in.

Words of dreams and ambitions and hopes and creativity only carry weight when they are tied to actions.

By my actions shall I be known …. No matter what words I say.

And so I hope you shall see more blogging soon … I’ve admitted a desire to be better at blogging … maybe I can put my words of desire into action.

Hold me to it.
